Beijing: China is ready to work with Cambodia to deepen comprehensive cooperation and achieve great progress in building a China-Cambodia community with a common future, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Sunday.
Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, said this during a conversation with Sok Chenda Sophea, Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.

Facing a complex international environment, China and Cambodia should strengthen high-level strategic guidance and take the right direction in building a China-Cambodia community with a shared future, the Foreign Minister said.
He said the two sides should deepen practical cooperation in various fields, promote unity and cooperation, increase people-to-people exchanges, and strengthen multilateral coordination and cooperation.
Wang said China is ready to develop strategic synergy with Cambodia and comprehensively develop cooperation in six key areas of politics, industrial capacity, agriculture, energy, security and people-to-people exchange.
China and Cambodia should use the opportunity of the 2024 China-Cambodia People-to-People Exchange Year to strengthen the feelings of friendship between people and strengthen the social foundation of bilateral relations, and jointly fight against illegal activities such as online gambling and telecommunications fraud. Eradicate human trafficking and related criminal groups, jointly promote the high-quality development of China-ASEAN relations, promote Lancang-Mekong cooperation, and move East Asian cooperation in the right direction, Wang said.
Cambodia hopes for more cooperation projects with China and welcomes more Chinese companies to invest in Southeast Asian countries, he said.
Sok Chenda Sophea added that Cambodia opposes external forces causing unrest in the region and is willing to unite and cooperate with China to ensure the healthy development of East Asian cooperation and together maintain peace and stability in the region.
