BEIJING — China reported an estimated 295 million tourist trips in the five-day weekend that ended Sunday, up 7.6 percent from last year and 28.2 percent from the same period in 2019. Culture and tourism showed on Monday.
In the same period, domestic tourism expenditure was 166.89 billion yuan (about 23.51 billion US dollars), up 13.5 percent from the same period in 2019.
Culture and tourism are deeply intertwined during the festival, and famous places such as the Palace Museum, Sanxingdui Museum and Yinxu Museum attract many people.
The night-time economy is also booming, with national cultural and tourism destinations at night being monitored, with nearly 72.58 million tourists registered, up 6.9% year-on-year.
According to the ministry, the reopening of more airlines, the introduction of measures to facilitate the entry of passengers and the visa waiver agreement have led to a rapid recovery in the number of incoming and outgoing tourists.
China saw nearly 1.78 million inbound trips and 1.9 million outbound trips during the holiday.
