FAISALABAD: Chinese plants used in Pakistan’s steel industry are playing an important role in reducing electricity costs and increasing production and efficiency, traders associated with the steel business said, WealthPK reports.
Different types of Chinese steel welding machines are available in the Faisalabad market.
“Due to the high cost of energy, our profits are shrinking day by day; however, the required concessions are provided to us by Chinese welding shops. The local welding shops are energy-intensive and put a strain on our wallets.
Jahangir said that consumers are not willing to pay them according to market rates, so in such circumstances, Chinese tools have helped them to meet the demands of customers.
He said other Chinese tools are also positively impacting their business; however, some unscrupulous elements have increased their rates due to high demand.
Muhammad Zafar, a railway trader, said that China’s energy-efficient tools, especially welding plants, are cost-effective and effectively help traders, workshop owners and workers associated with the steel business. These tools simplify processes and improve production standards by reducing time, labor and costs, he added.
Like Jahangir Babar, Katab Hussain, a welder, is happy with the Chinese welding machines and related tools. He told WealthPK that many Chinese tools such as cutting machines, cutting blades, welding rods, electrode holders, welding masks and welding goggles and gloves have made their lives more comfortable.
Earlier, he said, they had to spend hours cutting steel sheets, pipes and iron bars, but now they can do all these tasks with Chinese cutters in minutes without employing workers. He said Pakistani manufacturers also produce the same tools, but they are expensive and less durable compared to Chinese products.
“Chinese instruments are widely available and readily available. On the contrary, Pakistani manufacturers produce selected items and most of them are copies of Chinese products. We can say that China’s welding plants have revolutionized the manufacturing industry, which was on the verge of collapse due to skyrocketing electricity and steel prices,” Katab said.
Jahangir Babar is also impatiently waiting for the battery welders. He said these machines will facilitate their tasks in areas where electricity is not available. The battery-powered welding plants will revolutionize the country’s industry and pave the way for better sustainability and productivity, he added. WealthPK
