Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Mirat Ali Shah has extended an invitation to investors from Gulf countries and Germany to discuss investment in Sindh province.
Sindh, a province rich in resources and connected to the world through sea routes, believes that this makes it an ideal place for trade and commerce. The Prime Minister believes that investors can expect good returns from their investments in Sindh.
This was stated by Consul General of Germany Rudiger Lotz, Consul General of Qatar Mr. Nayef Shaheen and Consul General of Oman Eng. Sami Abdullah Al Hanjari at CM House.
Shah said his government plans to hold roadshows in Gulf countries to attract investment to the province.
Ambassador of Oman Eng. Sami Abdullah Al Hanjari congratulated Sindh Prime Minister Syed Myrat Ali Shah on the governorship election. The CM thanked the minister for speaking fluently and accurately in Urdu.
In the meeting, the CM emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Oman and said that the two countries should work together to improve trade, commerce and welfare of the people. He also said that Oman imports various goods from other distant countries and encouraged finding ways to increase trade between Pakistan and Oman, its nearest neighbour.
The CM also invited investors to visit Karachi and meet him and his investment department to discuss investment opportunities and joint ventures. The Ambassador also informed that President Asif Zardari has proposed to build a bridge between Gwadar and Oman to improve trade, commerce and people-to-people relations.
Prime Minister of Qatar and Consul General Mr. Nayef Shaheen also discussed investment, trade and commerce in the meeting. Shah said Qatar is a Muslim country and the two countries have strong ties.
Mr. Shah invited Qatari investors to invest in Sindh.
The Consul General assured the CM that he would bring a delegation of trade and investors here to explore the opportunity.
Discussing investment opportunities in Sindh, the Chief Minister said that his government is working with the World Bank to facilitate business in the province. German Consul General Rudiger Lotz said that a group of German investors will visit Karachi in June. He also said that a meeting with the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Sindh Investment Department was planned to discuss investment opportunities.
