RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s top military official on Tuesday condemned allegations that the armed forces interfered in the election process after political parties expressed serious concern over the results of the February 8 polls.
The army’s media wing said in a statement that the army’s reservations came during the 263rd Corps Commanders’ Conference (CCC) held at GHQ and chaired by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir.
Inter-Services Public Relations, citing top Army officials, said the CCC noted that the force “at great risk to its primary responsibility was providing a security environment for the conduct of GE-24 as mandated and had nothing to do.” with the electoral process”.
“However, the forum expressed dismay that some small sections of the state administration and the media, especially the social media, are slandering the Pakistan Armed Forces with baseless allegations of interference, which is highly regrettable,” the statement added.
The top commanders said that rather than focusing on real issues like good governance, economic recovery, political stability and public welfare, the entire focus of these vested elements is to create political instability and insecurity by trying to sacrifice others for their own mistakes. , according to ISPR.
The top military official also stressed that evidence and evidence must be followed after due legal processes, rather than resorting to unconstitutional and unsolicited baseless political rhetoric and emotional outpourings.
Corps commanders noted with satisfaction the smooth democratic transition of power at the Center and the provinces. “[The Forum] hoped that the post-election environment would bring the required political and economic stability that would lead to peace and prosperity for the people of Pakistan.
The army also expressed its firm belief that democratic consolidation is the way forward for the country, according to the army’s media wing.
The Supreme Commanders affirmed that the military leadership is aware of the full spectrum of challenges and threats and remains committed to assuming its constitutional responsibilities with the support of the resilient people of Pakistan.
The army reiterated that it will continue to provide full support to the government in combating security threats and uplifting socio-economic growth in the country, including unreserved assistance in curtailing all illegal activities, including “smuggling, hoarding, electricity theft, implementation of the single document regime and decent and safe repatriation . of all illegal aliens”.
Additionally, ISPR said that in accordance with the decision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the forum pledged that the planners, instigators, perpetrators, perpetrators and desecrations of martyrs’ monuments and attackers of military installations on May 9 will surely be brought to justice. according to the relevant provisions of the law and the Constitution.
The May 9 attacks refer to violent protests that erupted after the arrest of jailed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in a corruption case last year.
“In this regard, the malicious efforts to misrepresent, confuse and disinformation are totally futile and are only part of an organized campaign launched by narrow political interests to blur the heinous activities that took place,” the army’s media wing said.
The Army also noted with concern that organized disinformation and fake news spread by some nefarious elements are sowing despondency and division in the society and urged the “proud people of Pakistan to remain positive and united and contribute wholeheartedly to the progress and development of the country”.
“Participants affirmed that the Pakistan Army will continue to defend and serve the nation in all possible ways; on our path to lasting stability, prosperity and security.”
The COAS urged the field commanders to continue to maintain a high level of professionalism, operational readiness and motivation during operations and achieve excellence in formation training.
In the same huddle, the corps commanders paid rich tributes to the supreme sacrifices of martyrs including officers and men of the armed forces, law enforcement agencies and citizens who laid down their lives to ensure peace and stability in the country.
“[The forum] resolved that terrorists, their facilitators and supporters, working at the behest of hostile forces to destabilize Pakistan, will be dealt with by the full power of the state,” the statement said.
General Munir directed the commanders to continue consolidating the gains of counter-terrorism and militancy efforts.
In addition, the Forum expressed concern over the ongoing repression of Kashmiris in India’s illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and condemned New Delhi’s unabated human rights violations.
The forum reaffirmed that Pakistan will continue to support Kashmiris politically, diplomatically and morally at all levels.
Army officials also expressed full solidarity with the Palestinian people and condemned the grave human rights violations and war crimes committed in Gaza.
“The Palestinian people have the unequivocal diplomatic, moral and political support of the Pakistani nation and we will continue to support the principled stand of our brothers for a permanent solution to the Palestinian issue,” the ISPR quoted the army chief as saying.
