Peshawar: Peshawar Divisional Commissioner Riaz Khan Mehsud on Friday directed district governors to set up check points at bus terminals and entry and exit points of the city to prevent excessive toll collection ahead of Eid al-Adha.
He stopped the deputy commissioners of five districts in Peshawar division, including Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Tire Mohmand and Khyber districts, from charging more than the government-mandated transport fare.
He said that vehicle owners who charge more than the official rate should be sent to prison.
He issued this order at the behest of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
The commissioner said he would visit the city and take stock of the situation.
He also directed the Regional Transport Secretary to form a team for this purpose
