Islamabad: The registrar of the Islamabad High Court on Thursday expressed displeasure at the senator’s inability to respond.
Senator had asked for information about Sattar’s green card before his appointment.
In its response, the registry said that citizenship or residence in another country does not disqualify one from being a judge under the constitution.
This further clarified that the Supreme Court did not inquire about dual citizenship after the appointment of a Judge Advocate General.
The response cited Supreme Court Athar Minallah’s interpretation of the six-judge suo motu letter case. It was announced that Justice Babar Sattar’s green card issue had been discussed in the Supreme Judicial Council and as a result his appointment was approved.
However, the Registry says records of these discussions are not kept by the court.
In response, Wawda informed the Supreme Court in a press release that Justice Babar Sattar had clarified that he had disclosed his green card status to the Chief Justice on the appointed occasion.
