Islamabad: The 2024 examination results of the Federal Board Islamabad have astonished everyone. 52% of the students have passed, while 48% have been declared failed, which is unbelievable. Many students who gave excellent exams still received poor results. Comparing with previous years’ results, such outcomes have never been seen before. It is clear that there has been manipulation in the Federal Board’s results.
The PBA system has completely failed. The mockery of students should be stopped. Hafiz Muhammad Basharat, the central and founding president of the Private Educational Society, expressed strong anger in a statement. The central and zonal officials of the Private Educational Society and Islamabad Chamber of Education have completely rejected the current results.
Parents and students have announced severe protests against the corruption of the Federal Board. It is absolute injustice that some students from the same school have passed while the rest have failed. Parents claim that the Federal Board has intentionally failed students to make money, which is an intolerable act.
The PBA system, introduced for the first time this year, has also seen irregularities. On one hand, a PhD level PBA was introduced, and on the other, practical examiners awarded marks based on their mood. How is it possible for a student who scores 45/50 in a subject to receive zero or one mark in practical exams? This is complete injustice.
Parents demand that the Federal Board recheck the exam papers immediately, correct the PBA system, and declare students who passed the theoretical exams as successful in the practical exams as well. Furthermore, a permanent and capable chairman should be appointed immediately to improve the administrative affairs of the board. If these reforms are not implemented, parents will protest outside the Federal Board and raise their voices at the National Press Club.
In the current situation, many parents have withdrawn their children from education and put them to work because paying fees seems pointless. Parents have appealed to the Prime Minister of Pakistan to reform the Federal Board and take legal action against the administration for intentionally failing students.
This is a question of our nation’s future. Parents and civil society are holding severe protests, and a prompt notice from the higher authorities is requested. If the situation remains the same, the board will collapse as quickly as it gained fame. Currently, 4,000 institutions are registered with the board. People from all over Pakistan have trusted the Federal Board, abandoning other boards, but due to a few short-sighted individuals, educational institutions are now being forced to affiliate with other boards again. A few people have completely hijacked the board, and if the Prime Minister does not take notice, this institution will be ruined.
