Two men were arrested by Counter-Terrorism Department in connection with the targeting of the sectarian, who claimed to have killed 13 people and injured 11 others.
According to CTD DIG Police Asif Ijaz Sheikh, the suspects, Waqar Abbas and Hussain Akbar, were found to be associated with the outlawed organization Zainabyun. Mastermind Syed Hussain Mousavi alias Muslim is said to have provided targets, funds, and other facilities to foreign cooperatives.
CTD investigation revealed that the suspects were involved in several incidents which were initially believed to be robbery-related incidents. In addition, the investigation revealed that most of the victims were members of religious parties.
The suspects confessed to killing 13 people, including Sher Muhammad, Qaiser Farki, Adnan, Meraj, Hamad Osama, Muhammad Salim, Habib-ur-Rehman, Shoaib, Seyfur Rehman, Muhammad Ayub, Abdul Bari, Saad Faruqi and Muhammad Aminaminuddin.
The CTD also found weapons, motorcycles and a “nail list” containing the details of more than 15 people from the arrested suspects. Further investigation revealed that three gangs were involved in targeting and identified Syed Soheib Abbas alias Waqar Gilgiti, Haidar Gilgiti and several other suspects.
DIG CTD Asif Ijaz Shih said that action will be taken against black sheep in CTD and more than 100 employees have been punished and 14 employees have been fired.
