Prague: Czech President Petr Pavel was hospitalized in Prague after a motorbike accident on Thursday, but his injuries were “not serious”.
The 62-year-old, who has been working since March 2023, will be hospitalized for some time.
“Their injuries are not serious, but they require short-term observation at the Military University Hospital in Prague,” Pavel’s office said.
Press secretary Wit Kolar later told Czech television that Pavel would spend “several days” in hospital after the program was seriously injured.
“We will see” if Pavel will be fit to travel abroad next week, Cech told Czech TV.
Pavel’s office said Thursday that the president would travel to Jordan, but it was not immediately clear if the trip was scheduled for next week.
Czech media reported that the president crashed at a closed racetrack and that police have not yet investigated the incident.
A former NATO general, Pavel is known for his passion for motorcycles and currently rides a BMW R1200 GS.
Not long after his inauguration, he rode a motorcycle to visit his neighbor Germany.
Last summer, Pavel got into trouble after posting a picture of himself riding a motorcycle without a helmet.
