ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy discussed strengthening Pak-UK relations, focusing on contributions from British Pakistanis and planning for the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in October.
In a telephone call, the Deputy Prime Minister congratulated David Lammy on his appointment as UK Secretary of State for Commonwealth and Development Affairs and expressed optimism about the new UK government’s commitment to continue the positive development in Pakistan-UK relations. .
Both Ministers appreciated the valuable contributions of British Pakistanis to strengthen friendly relations between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
The DPM emphasized the importance Pakistan attaches to its relations with the United Kingdom, particularly in the context of the Commonwealth. He expressed readiness to work with Foreign Minister Lammy to address climate change, develop opportunities for youth and promote trade and investment.
Both ministers pledged to strengthen bilateral cooperation and remain actively involved in the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in October.
