Multan: Pakistan’s leading home appliance manufacturer – Dawlance has opened its first women’s franchise workshop in a women’s empowerment initiative. The woman who led the workshop was part of Dawlance’s special women’s internship program.
As a subsidiary of Arcelik, Dawlance aligns with Arcelik’s freedom, inclusion and equality policies to promote impactful initiatives. The Grit-to-Great program empowers more than 100 women each year through comprehensive development workshops, mentoring and professional development.
Continuing its legacy of empowering communities, Dawlance launched the Dawlance Customer Service initiative three years ago. The program encourages women to enter technical fields. She recruited women technical professionals all over Pakistan with the hope of becoming successful entrepreneurs and this workshop is the result of such efforts.
Speaking at the launch, Chief Executive Officer Mr. Umar Ahsan Khan described the industry’s first women-led Empowerment workshop and spoke about Dawlance’s plans for such workshops in the future: “We are excited! Inaugurating the first women’s workshop in Multan. This is Dawlance’s effort to help women play an integral role in the country’s economic prosperity. Because, at Dawlance, we believe that women are just as competitive as their male counterparts in the technical field.
He also took the opportunity to announce that Dawlance will open five more workshops in the country this year.
At a time when the female labor force participation rate in Pakistan stands at 23.8 percent, the opening of licensed workshops for all women is a welcome step. Under Archelik’s wing, Dawlance is leading the way among her colleagues in breaking the stereotyping of women’s careers and ensuring that more women take up space in technical fields.
