SWAT: At least two person were killed and three policemen were sustained critical injuries on Wednesday, after two-groups engaged in an exchange of fire in Amankot area of Swat district. The deceased include Mohammad Ali, DSP Peshawar Cantt’s brother Bacha Hussain and an elder of the area Mohammad Amin alias Khan Lala.
According to the Swat DPO Shafiullah Khan Dandpur, the conflict occurred over a disputed of land near the Mingora Grassy ground. It involved two groups: one comprised of DSP Muhammad Ali, Nawab Khan, and Bacha Hussain, and the other comprising Ejaz Khan, Akbar Khan, Jahangir Khan, Sabir Khan, and Salman, all residents of Amankot area of Mingora Swat district.
During the clash, three policemen, namely Mobile vehicle driver Sardar Ali, constable Shakeel, and constable Iftikhar, were also injured.
The police have increased their presence in the area and are actively searching for the individuals involved.
Family members of the deceased staged a protest by blocking the road and setting fire to the vehcle of the accused.
The victims were laid to rest in the evening with strong security measures in place.
The ongoing gunfire in the city had caused panic, leading to the closure of some shops in certain areas.
