It is an attempt of Daily the public purview to criticize constructively so that the institutions can be reformed well and that is also the motto of our dedicated Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur that he has come to reform. The people who trust him are praying that many of their problems would be solved during his tenure.
Where there is a need to reform the other institutions of the province, there is also a need to repair the dilapidated roofs and celling fans of government schools under the education department, especially girls’ primary schools, in order to avoid further accidents.
A heartbreaking incident took place in the suburbs of the previous provincial capital Peshawar when a ceiling fan in a girls’ primary school in Chaghul pura area fall on her and seriously injuring her while the girls present were also in panic. According to media reports and a video uploaded on a reputable website, the incident took place at the Government Girls Primary School in Chaghul pura area of Peshawar, where a fan attached to the ceiling of the classroom hit a female teacher, causing her serious injuries.
Talking about that, Sub-Divisional Education Officer Chaghul pura Circle Shamim Akhtar said that the injured teacher has been shifted to the hospital for immediate medical assistance while the higher authorities have also been informed about the incident.
Shamim Akhtar said that the school girls are safe in the incident. The school building is dilapidated and a summary has been sent to repair it. According to the said government officer, it was reported earlier but no hearing has been done for which the higher authorities need to be reprimanded. Because in this incident, the death of a girl or a teacher could have happened.
It should be remembered that the Government Primary School is not the only building that is in a very dilapidated condition but most of the primary and middle schools in the suburbs of Peshawar are in this condition, including Government Primary School Kamboh, Government Middle and Primary School Sarbuland pura of the same circle.
Where the girls are facing the lack of washrooms and clean drinking water or a problem of accommodating in the class rooms for large number of students. Where there is a need to build more rooms. According to a report of the National Students Federation two years ago, our federal and provincial governments are gradually retreating from all these responsibilities day by day and the justification is given that the government only focuses on peace and order. The public sector is being sold on the same pretext that the government is not doing its job, and education and health are also being consciously handed over to the private sector, although it is the responsibility of the state to provide free education to all children. Then should provide compulsory education, take care of the medical facilities of every citizen and provide employment opportunities to people through legitimate means, but as the state is getting rid of these responsibilities.
The plight of government schools and institutions is becoming unspeakable. How surprising that according to an official report, even today 51% of schools do not have electricity facilities, 36% of schools do not even have water, 42% of schools do not have toilets, while 68% of children have never gone to school and 46 percent of children did not go to primary school.
Therefore, it is necessary that the department of higher and secondary education in the province should pay attention to this aspect and the provincial education minister should allocate special funds for the construction and repair of these primary schools in the budget. Apart from that, these schools have also been included in the program of beautification and decoration of Peshawar so that these schools can be made model schools.
It is hoped that the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur will also take full notice of the said incident and will issue orders to the higher authorities to submit an inquiry report of this incident so that such incidents cannot occur in the future in which girls could killed. Thus there is a risk of losing the precious lives of the residents. If this incident is also put in the cold storage as usual then even worse incidents may happen for which all the responsibilities will be jointly imposed on the higher authorities.
