BANJUL: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will visit Banjul, Gambia on Wednesday to lead the Pakistani delegation at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit, where he will raise the issue of Gaza and India’s illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
“I have now come to The Gambia to represent Pakistan at the 15th Summit,” the Deputy Prime Minister said in a post on Dar X.
The Foreign Office said in a statement that the foreign minister will attend the OIC summit on May 4-5 after attending the OIC Foreign Ministers’ meeting before the May 2-3 summit to determine the agenda and outcome document for the summit.
During his visit, the foreign minister will talk about Islamabad’s stance on the genocide taking place in Gaza, where nearly 35,000 Palestinians have been martyred by Israel since October last year, and the right to self-determination of ICRC people.
Advocating the need for collective solutions to the challenges faced by Muslims, Dar will also address other issues such as the unity and unity of the Ummah, increasing Islamophobia, climate change, terrorism and other global issues.
In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister should hold bilateral meetings with leaders and foreign ministers present at the event.
It should be noted that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held an “extraordinary meeting of the Minister of Islamic Information” in February of this year, where it condemned the ongoing Israeli military aggression in Gaza as providing “constant violence, massacres and”. genocide against civilians”.
The summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation will provide another important opportunity for member states to discuss the dire situation in Gaza and develop a strong, collective and united position on the Palestinian issue.
