DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Unknown terrorists attacked the Chaudhwan police station of Daraban Tehsil of Dera Ismail Khan last night.
During the attack, the policemen resisted the terrorists for two and a half hours.
As soon as the incident was reported, Regional Police Officer Dera Nasir Mehmood Satti along with DPO Dera reached the spot.
On this occasion tten police personnel bravely fought and martyred themselves in the encounter with the terrorists, while nine policemen were injured.
IGP Akhtar Hayat Khan paid tribute to the courage and bravery of the police martyrs in confronting the terrorists.
He said, the sacrifices of those who fought for the security of the country and the protection of the lives and property of the people will not go in vain.
IGP said that cowardly attacks by terrorists in the dark of night cannot demoralize the police force personnel.
Later, the funeral prayers of the police martyrs were performed with full official honors at Police Lines Dera.
On this occasion Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Justice Retd Arshad Hussain, Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Akhtar Hayat Khan, Commissioner Dera Division Zafarul Ialam Khattak, DC Dera Mansoor Arshad, DPO Dera Abdul Rauf Babar Qaisrani, Security Forces and other senior officers also participated.
On this occasion, the armed forces of the police saluted the police martyrs.
Later, the Chief Minister visited the modern command and control room and polling station established in Police Lines Dera and the arrangements were reviewed.
Meanwhile, a high-level meeting was also held in the Deputy Commissioner House under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Justice Retired Arshad Hussain Shah regarding the security and peaceful conduct of the general election.
IG FC South Major General Haroon Hameed, Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Akhtar Hayat Khan, Commissioner Dera, Regional Police Officer Dera, DC Dera, DPO Dera participated in the meeting.
In the meeting, Regional Police Officer Dera gave a complete briefing about the tragedy that happened last night at police station Chaudhwan and the security and administrative measures taken for the peaceful conduct of the general election.
During the meeting, including a detailed review of the security arrangements, the election security plan and other important issues were discussed.
On this occasion, the Caretaker Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Justice Retired Arshad Hussain said that conducting peaceful elections is the first priority of the civil administration and police of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, for which all available resources will be utilized.
