Karachi: Residents of Karachi struggled to cope with the scorching heat as the temperature soared to 41 degrees on Monday.
More than 70 people suffering from severe heat have been treated at Civil Hospital and Jinnah Hospital for four days.
Nizam Civil Hospital AMS doctors informed that 67 people affected by heat were taken to the emergency department. Most of them are old or suffering from various diseases. After treatment, all but three were discharged in stable condition. Dr. Nizam also said that none of the patients were suffering from fever.
Three patients suffering from heatstroke were admitted to Jinnah Hospital today, taking the total number of patients to 12 in the last four days. The head of the emergency department confirmed that the hot weather unit was fully operational.
Meanwhile, Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz said Karachi is expected to experience a partial heat wave for the next two days. Change in wind direction causes heat gain.
After these two days, the temperature is expected to drop and the monsoon season is expected to begin in the first week of July.
