Islamabad: The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands organized a celebration in honor of the birthday of King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands. The event not only serves as a commemoration of the King’s birthday, but also as an opportunity to strengthen the enduring relationship between Pakistan and the Netherlands.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Henny de Vries said: “Today, as we gather to commemorate King Willem-Alexander’s birthday on King’s Day, we highlight the enduring partnership and friendship between the Netherlands and Pakistan during these globally turbulent times. It is in times like these that it is even more important for us all to stand still and value and celebrate what unites us rather than what divides us.”
The event was graced by the Federal Minister for TB as the chief guest.
Over the past year, the Embassy, in collaboration with partners in Pakistan, has coordinated a number of successful projects and events spanning various sectors, including human rights, water and climate initiatives. These efforts highlight the shared commitment of both nations to address global challenges and promote sustainable development.
Highlighting the cultural diversity and artistic talent of the two nations, the event featured an enthralling performance by two Dutch artists in collaboration with talented Pakistani local musicians. Together they performed a mixture of national anthems and traditional songs, symbolizing the unity and shared values between the two cultures.
The event was attended by a distinguished audience including senior government officials, prominent civil society figures, members of the diplomatic community and distinguished guests from various sectors. This meeting underscores the vibrant and dynamic relationship that exists between Pakistan and the Netherlands.
