Islamabad: His Highness Mr. Wada Mitsuhiro, Representative Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Pakistan, has bid farewell to the Honorable Federal Minister for Economy, Mr. Ahad Khan Chema. The Ambassador was accompanied by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Chief Representative Mr. Naoaki Miyata. Top officials of the Ministry of Economy also attended the meeting.
The meeting began with a warm welcome from the Minister of Economy to the Ambassador of Japan, who acknowledged and thanked the bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Japan for more than seven decades since its establishment in 1954. Minister Chema emphasized the common values and perspectives between the two countries on various global issues and the importance of Japan’s economic assistance to Pakistan.
Ambassador Wada reiterated Japan’s firm commitment to support Pakistan in agreed priority sectors such as health, education, environment and water. He also briefed the Minister on the development portfolio funded by the Government of Japan, including Japan’s 2022 flood relief package and the Government of Pakistan scholarship scheme for civil servants.
Minister Chema thanked and H.E. Pakistan Ambassador Wada’s decision to work closely with the Japanese Government to ensure the effective implementation and review of the ongoing project while further strengthening bilateral relations. Both sides agreed to hold the next meeting of the Japan-Pakistan High Level Economic Policy Dialogue as soon as possible.
