In response to the Senate motion to postpone general elections till 2024, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) clarified that elections will be held on February 8, 2024.
According to ECP authorities, the polls could not be postponed without an order from the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Senator Dilawar Khan presented a resolution to the Senate on Friday demanding a postponement of the February 8 general elections, citing security concerns.

Independent Senator Dilawar Khan stated that political leaders face security threats, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and that there are concerns about the security of political party candidates.
