CHITRAL: An awareness drive on enrollment in government schools was organized in Lower Chitral. In connection with the Chitral public school admission campaign, the walk started from the hospital road and passed through various bazaars ending at the Chitral primary school. After that event was also held in this school in Citral. The meeting was led by the Assistant Commissioner of Chitral Dr. Atif Jalib, the principal and officials of the Department of Education also participated in the event. These walks and events are organized together with Helvetas to raise awareness and attract people to the school. Education department officials, children and teachers also participated in this rally. The trail passes through the Chitral Market and ends at the Government Primary School. After that, an event was held at the school. Officials of the education department, teachers and district officials also expressed their opinion about the importance of education in the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Head of Education Department Shahid Hussain said that government schools are now working hard to ensure that students studying here get quality education. AC Chitral Dr. Atif Jalib said that government schools are no less than quality education providers today. He said, “I can assure you that children who study in government institutions are not left behind who study in private schools.” Parents are encouraged to enroll their children in public schools and visit the school at least every two weeks to inquire about their performance. He said, the provincial government is trying to improve the quality of this government school. People should take advantage of it and enroll their children in these schools. The motto of the Provincial Government is to educate every child so that no child is deprived of their education. The public school admission campaign started on March 1 and will continue on April 30. During this period, Pakistani children and Afghan refugee children were also enrolled in these schools so that they would have a higher education and not develop. in any negative activity or criminal activity without deprivation of knowledge.
Education department officials said the enrollment target for Lower Chitral this year is 5,416, with around 2,700 children enrolled in these schools. He also said that among them, 1,300 students are enrolled in public schools after coming from private schools. He said that taking children from private schools and enrolling them in public schools shows that public confidence in these schools has been restored.
DEO Shahid Hussain said that last year, below Chitral was among the top three in the province in terms of productivity, which was a good start and the input was also more than the target.
Azhar Iqbal, field officer of Helvetas, also addressed the event and said that the organization was founded in 1980 and that it is making many efforts to provide formal and informal education to Afghan refugee children across the country. With the support of this organization, school bags are also distributed to boys and girls who have just started school. AC Chitral has included his name in the list of admission and acceptance. A large number of students, teachers and social workers attended the event which ended with a prayer by Maulvi Muhammad Wali Ansari.
