RAWALPINDI: Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Malik Shehzad Ahmed Khan on Friday said that he believes the agency’s intervention in the judicial process will be timely.
“Disruption in the judicial system must be fought with the belief that it will end,” said the LHC Chief Justice at the inauguration of the court’s advanced e-court in Rawalpindi.
Justice Khan said there was an issue of interference in court proceedings and said he had received a letter stating that they were involved in court proceedings.
“He will end the interference of the court in the trial and say that my experience will end,” he said, adding that if the judge fears God, this problem will end.
The chief justice of the LHC also said he was happy that the judiciary “discharged its responsibilities without fear or greed”.
The Chief Justice’s statement came after six judges of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) wrote a letter to the Supreme Court on March 25 accusing internal organizations of interfering in the proceedings.
The IHC judge asked Pakistan’s Chief Justice Faez Isa to convene a judicial convention to look into cases of intelligence officials interfering in proceedings or “intimidating” judges in a manner that undermines judicial independence.
Six judges of the IHC – Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Babar Sattar, Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir, Justice Tariq Mahmood Jehangiri, Justice Sardar Ejaz Yshaq Khan and Justice Saman Rifat Imtiaz – wrote to the chief justice, who is also the presiding judge. . Supreme Judicial Council (SJC).
Commenting on the problems in the judiciary, LHC CJ said that delay in proceedings was the biggest problem. “Three generations of a family are waiting for a decision and sometimes it takes 30 years,” he said.
Justice Khan said the cases were adjourned due to absence of witnesses and said he had consulted a senior court judge to resolve the matter.
He said that people living abroad were facing difficulties in going to court and properties in Pakistan were being stolen.
The Chief Justice of the LHC said that legal issues are also being considered in the e-court and said that the absconders will not be allowed to appear on the video link.
“Pakistanis living abroad can visit the embassy and get video link facility.” LHC CJ blamed lawyers as the main reason for delaying the case.
