Sudhir Kumar, a Hyderabad-based neurologist, says that exercising once a week is better than no physical activity at all.
The doctor, who goes by the name ‘Hyderabaddoctor’ on X.com, made an announcement on the social media platform with a new study on the benefits of weekend exercise for people known as weekend warriors.
“Do you exercise regularly? “Just train on the weekend to get the same benefits from deadlifts,” he said.
The study, published in the journal BMJ, followed more than 150,000 adults over the past decade.
The results showed that those who exercised once or twice a week had a 15 percent lower risk of death, the same as those who exercised 3 or more days a week.
However, this benefit is only seen if the duration of the exercise is at least 30-60 minutes.
“The results show that even older adults can benefit from participating in one or two exercises a week,” said researchers from the Universidad de los Andes University in Colombia.
“Exercise as much as possible: once a week is better than nothing. “Make sure you exercise for 30 to 60 minutes.”
The doctor chose “aerobic exercise and strength training” in the previous article.
“For optimal benefits, it may be better to combine aerobic exercise (2-3 days per week) and strength training (2-3 days per week) (with one day of rest per week),” says the neurologist.
