ISLAMABAD: Exports from the country registered an increase of 11.83 percent during the first month of fiscal year 2024-25 compared to the corresponding month last year, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported on Friday.
Exports during July 2024 were recorded at USD 2.308 billion, compared to exports of USD 2.064 billion in July 2023, according to the latest PBS data.
On the other hand, imports into the country during the month under review also increased by 15.30 percent to $4.256 billion against imports of $3.691 billion last July.
Based on the data, the trade deficit during the month under review was recorded at $1.948 billion as against last year’s deficit of $1.627 billion, an increase of 19.71 percent.
Meanwhile, exports from the country decreased by 9.77 percent month-on-month compared to exports of $2.558 billion during June 2024.
On the other hand, services exports rose 2.7 percent to $7.806 billion during the 2023-24 fiscal year from $7.595 billion last year.
Imports of services also rose from US$8.638 billion last year to US$10.119 billion this year, a growth of 17.14 percent.
Based on the data, trade in services deficit was recorded at $2.313 billion in July-June (2023-24) as against a deficit of $1.043 billion in July-June (2022-23), a rise of 121.76 percent.
