Rawalpindi: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir, NI (M) visited Awaran district of Balochistan. During the visit, the COAS was briefed about the security situation and the efforts being made by the Pakistan Army in the area of socio-economic development and agricultural potential of the province.
The COAS interacted with the local elders, farmers and families of Shuhada and assured them of the Army’s unwavering support for their security and welfare while paying rich tributes to the sacrifices made by Shuhada.
Interacting with dignitaries and farmers of Awaran, the COAS emphasized the importance of agriculture and the Army’s commitment to the Green Pakistan Initiative (GPI). The COAS said that farmers will be provided with all kinds of agricultural facilities, including provision of easy farm loans, seeds, fertilizers, solar tube wells and guidance by agricultural experts to cultivate their land and become partners in progress and development. Later COAS inaugurated Cadet College Awaran and interacted with faculty members and students. The Army Chief appreciated the establishment of another Cadet College in Balochistan for the people of the area. He reiterated his commitment that the Pakistan Army would continue development and relief activities in Balochistan in cooperation with the concerned civilian agencies.
The COAS remarked, “Balochistan’s success is Pakistan’s success. The people of Pakistan are proud of the brave people of Balochistan who stood against all odds. Pakistan Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies will continue to render their services to support the people of Balochistan for peace and prosperity.
Earlier on arrival the COAS was received by the Balochistan Corps Commander.
