Actor Faisal Qureshi apologized for hurting the sentiments of the legal community on HUM TV’s Zulm after the Karachi Bar Association condemned the drama and demanded an apology from him and HUM TV owner Sultana Siddiqui.
Tyranny is described by HUM TW as “a thrilling story of an enduring battle against injustice and power”. Qureshi stars with Sahar Hashmi and Shehzad Sheikh as powerful but morally corrupt men who use their power to punish young women who defy their position.
In the drama, Quraishi often refers to his legal team and other lawyers as, among others, two-bit lawyers.
Secretary General Ikhtiar Ali Channa and Human Rights Committee Chairman Zahid Hussain Soomro signed together. “Consequently, the Karachi Bar Association demands an apology from Mr. [Faisal Quraishi] and urges the owner of HUM TV to file a direct motion with the Karachi Bar Association for bringing the legal fraternity into disrepute.”
The statement said that the reputation of the legal fraternity has been tarnished by the conduct of “[Faisal Quraishi], producer Momina Duraid and others involved in the said drama series, and therefore the Karachi Bar Association apologizes to [Faisal Quraishi]. HUM TV Sultana [Siddiqi] and others who participated in the drama series”.
The union has threatened legal action if its demand for an apology is not met.
“After the announcement, there was a lot of fear,” he said. Kaiser Khan’s lawyer thanked Nizaman, who called him to ask what had happened.
“But yeah, I will say that I personally don’t want to say, but sometimes there are many things that could have been cut [from the drama] but ended up in the air. it caused some controversy with our brothers and sisters in the legal community,” he said.
