FAISALABAD- Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman announced on Monday that his party has launched an action against election irregularities.
Addressing a press conference here, Fazl said that the JUI-F will hold a massive rally on June 1.
Fazl said the country’s system is a mess and urged all politicians to reflect on the nature of the annual debate in Pakistan.
He lamented the non-implementation of the constitution and questioned its purpose.
JUI-F leaders criticized the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for its passive stance on electoral fraud and constitutional violations. He, however, cautioned against blaming the Commission alone, arguing that doing so would undermine the constitution and laws in the country.
Commenting on the violent riots on May 9, Fazl condemned the attack on government offices and the burning of government-registered buildings.
Fazlur Rahman made a clear reference to the military establishment and said that if they rejected the election fraud, the people should admit that they rejected the May 9 incident.
He said that the unity of all parties is necessary for the political development of the country.
Fazl criticized the current coalition and indicated that a minority government would come to power.
He also asked how the Pakistan People’s Party could maintain its constitutional position by denying its role in government.
