Islamabad : Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Zonal Office Faislabad in collaboration with Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle conducted a successful raid against a franchisee of a mobile phone company in Sahiwal against illegal issuance of SIM cards.
The franchisee was found to be involved in the illegal issuance of SIM cards which were also found to be used in gray trading and fraudulent activities. During the raid, 146 suspected SIM cards and five BVS devices along with one laptop were seized which were used for illegal SIM activation. Apart from this, two individuals were detained at the spot by the FIA team against whom an FIR was registered. The FIA is intensively investigating the case.
The PTA filed a complaint with the FIA based on information regarding the illegal issuance of SIM cards by a sales channel. The raid marks the authority’s determination to stamp out illegal SIM card issuance.
