Beijing: Shipments of fresh water products from Pakistan have successfully entered China through Kashgar Airport in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
The event marks an important milestone in the initiation of international trade in freshwater products in the region.
The shipment, which was sent by a China Southern Airlines flight from Islamabad to Kashgar, consisted of a total of 774 kilograms of water products with a total value of $2,760. The shipment included 81 kilograms of fresh grouper worth $744 and 693 kilograms of frozen mullet worth $2,016, the China Economic and Trade Organization (CEN) said on Wednesday.
Tang Lin, representative of Xinjiang Huizhou Import and Export Trading Co., Ltd., which handles imports, shared insights on logistics. The water product is purchased from Karachi, Pakistan and takes approximately three days to be transported to Kashgar.
Looking to the future, Tang said, “The successful entry of this range of fresh water products increases our confidence to expand the scope of this business. We plan to import more fresh products based on Pakistan’s fishing season.”
According to the Kashgar Trade Bureau, this is the first time the region has imported fresh seafood from Pakistan. This event marked the beginning of wider international trade in the region.
They noted that supporting the import of high-quality agriculture and by-products from neighboring countries promotes local trade cooperation with Central and South Asia, which is important for the economic development of the region.
