Islamabad: Chief Economist and Director, Directorate of Economics and Evaluation, Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), Prof. Adnan Qadir Khan and the British High Commissioner to Pakistan, H. E. Mrs. Jane Marriott CMG OBE, called on the Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb.
The Minister of Finance welcomed both guests. The minister pointed to the government’s efforts to stabilize the economy with success such as increased foreign exchange reserves, stable currency, low inflation and a thriving market. He also outlined important reforms such as privatization, restructuring of BUMN, digitization of FBR, export-led growth initiatives and energy sector reforms. Acknowledging the support provided by the British government, he emphasized that KPI-based projects will be effectively implemented to make the support more effective.
Prof. Adnan Qadir Khan said that FCDO has successfully completed several key initiatives and supported the domestic reform agenda aimed at enhancing economic growth and stability in Pakistan.
H.E. Mrs. Jane Marriott said that the British government is willing to support Pakistan in socio-economic development and expressed confidence in the possibility of deeper cooperation in the future.
