Islamabad: At least four people died and three others were rescued after a boat carrying mostly school children capsized in the Jhelum river in Srinagar on Tuesday.
The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has been deployed to rescue the missing people.
The three rescued persons are undergoing treatment at Srinagar’s SMHS hospital, KMS said.
A boat appeared near Srinagar’s Batwara area while the boat was carrying school children.
The Srinagar administration, which appointed BP, started a rescue operation in Ganderbal near Batwara after the incident was reported.
Incessant rains for the past few days have led to a rise in water levels in several reservoirs, including the Jhelum.
Reports said seven people were hospitalized, four died and three were treated.
