SWAT: At least Four-women were shot dead in the name of honor in Swat district during this month, while Thirty-four women were killed in the last Six and a half months.

Irfan Hussain Babak, the head of the Awakening, an organization working on women’s rights, said that according to his data, Thirty-four women have been killed from January to Fifteen July this year. In which 10 women have been killed in the name of honor.
He said that due to social attitudes, violence against women and their murder are considered normal in our country and women are blamed after the killing and violence of women.
Dr. Shazia Hakeem, who works on violence against women and their rights, said that because in our society women are considered subjugated and men are considered as rulers, women are subjected to violence and their killing is not considered wrongful.
She said that women are not given their rights and this is the main reason why women feel insecure.
“Darul Aman has been established in Swat district for women victims of violence.”
Nusrat Iqbal, head of the institution, said that we not only teach skills to the women who take shelter here, but also counsel them and provide them with legal assistance.
SP Investigation Swat Badshah Hazrat Khan said that whenever an incident of honor killings occurs and there is no one to report the incident then police take action and lodge an FIR.
He said the matter is investigated accordingly and the culprit produced in the court of law , added that in such a situation police become a complainant on behalf of the state,” he said.
“Jirgas are usually held after such events in the Pakhtun society, and with the efforts of the Jirgas, a settlement is often reached in such cases.”
Irfan Hussain Babak, head of The Awakening, further said that there is a law in this regard in our province, but unfortunately, such incidents are not prevented and the accused are not punished. Due to which the number of such incidents is continuously increasing which is not a good omen in any case.
