According to the details, under the command of Inspector General of Police Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, Islamabad Traffic Police showed effective performed.

During the first six months of 2024, six different testing centers were established, including Facilitation on Wheel, Education on Wheel, and Mechanic on Wheel, Highway Patrol, and Night Patrol.

The facility of renewing driving licenses was provided to senior citizens above 70 years of age at their homes, along with online driving license renewal. Many reforms were implemented during this period, including the establishment of the Islamabad Traffic Police Theme Park, ensuring smooth traffic flow during office hours, and installing traffic signboards on various highways to guide citizens.

Islamabad Traffic Police organized 507 workshops and classes related to road safety and traffic rules in the first six months of 2024, conducted in various private and government schools, institutions, and traffic headquarters in Islamabad to raise awareness about driving learner permits and traffic rules among citizens. More than 176,000 citizens were informed about road safety and traffic rules during these workshops.

Legal actions were taken against 434,746 vehicles and motorcycles for violating various traffic laws during this period, with FIRs registered against 951 people for traffic violations. Additionally, the driving licenses of 68 individuals were suspended, route permits of 18 public transport vehicles were suspended, and legal notices were issued to 50 drivers.

Furthermore, 4,500 vehicles and 9,485 motorcycles were impounded in various police stations for serious violations, including 52,471 for illegal parking, 36,554 for vehicles with non-standard and fancy number plates, 12,866 for vehicles with tinted glasses, 27,639 for motorcyclists without helmets, 16,550 for overloading, and 12,346 for lane violations due to lack of fitness certificates.

Moreover, 2,856 cases were reported for vehicles without number plates, 3,321 for violations at zebra crossings and stop lines, and 922 challan tickets were issued to underage drivers.

During 2024, Islamabad Traffic Police issued 12,463 new driving licenses, renewed 12,716 driving licenses upon expiry, and issued 27,343 learner’s permits for obtaining driving licenses.

Similarly, traffic police officers fulfilled their official duties in over 5,000 events, including transportation for various national and international delegations, National Assembly and Senate meetings, public peace operations, PSL events, and the 2024 Elections.

Fourteen officers of the Islamabad Traffic Police were injured while performing their duties. They diligently maintained traffic flow in ongoing development projects and construction areas such as Behara Kahubai Pass, Park Road, Iran Avenue, Sihala, and Rawat T Cross.

CTO Islamabad Muhammad Sarfraz Virk said that the professional conduct of Islamabad Traffic Police sets a benchmark for other provinces. Given the daily influx of millions of vehicles and motorcycles into Islamabad, maintaining traffic flow on highways and enforcing traffic rules is a challenging task and Islamabad Traffic Police is performing commendably with the available resources at hand.
