DI KHAN: The power dispute in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has reached a critical level, with Chief Minister Ali Amin reportedly moving towards the demolition of the Gandapur power station gate and forced restoration of electricity. On Wednesday.
In a decisive step to address the issue, Gandapur visited the Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan) substation to oversee the restoration of electricity.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, CM Gandapur fixed the loading duration in 12 hours.
“No area should be loaded for more than 12 hours. Assembly members should visit the stations in their respective areas to ensure compliance with the loading schedule.”
Addressing a press conference in Gandapur, CM Ali Amin accused the federal government of defaulting on about $1,600 billion in debt and provincial government revenue.
“The federal government says it needs some time to review the power system and wants our support.” “However, the deadline given to the Center has expired. I tried to contact the Federal Minister for Power (Energy Division) Awais Leghari but did not get a response.”
“That means you (the people) and we are free,” he said, urging everyone to follow and spread his policies. “No one should damage Wapda’s property because it was made with our tax money.”
Addressing the Gandapur police, he said, “I have informed the KP police chief that no case should be registered against anyone on the request of Wapda. This is KP Police. It has nothing to do with Wapda. Wapda is doing injustice and we are not getting our due rights. It should be fair,” he said.
“Imran Khan made me the chief minister of your province. As an executive, you must follow my orders.”
The administration told the law enforcement officers that they must monitor the road stations and carry out their orders to ensure there are no accidents or excesses during the 12-hour period.
“It is the responsibility of the federal government to solve this problem, but it has failed, hence the criticism,” Gandapur said.
He announced plans to cut the national electricity supply from the provinces. “I also came to Islamabad. I thought I was only saying this from my province. I will say all this in Islamabad as well,” he said.
Speaking before Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Gandapur said, “The Prime Minister called and said that the province has chosen to sign an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). First, I want our province’s money; otherwise, I will tell the International Monetary Fund openly that they freed our people and took money for us.”
“Your behavior and actions (Prime Minister) forced your government to retreat. I know your capabilities and how you came to power, and I will take steps. In the end, you will not survive, and even those who brought you to power will not be able to save you.”
Gandapur said the federal government has not fulfilled its promise and will now face the consequences.
Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) Sunni Ittehad Council (SIK) Fazal Elahi entered the Rehman Baba dam station in Peshawar on Tuesday and restored power in the area.
Police have registered an FIR in connection with the incident but have not named MPA Fazal Elahi in the case.
Officials of the Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (PESCO) reported that MPA Elahi forcibly restored power to ten feeders with high loss rates at 11 o’clock, resulting in a financial loss of $2.64 million to PESCO.
According to PESCO officials, this feeder has been closed again. Officials of the power company noted that Elahi Constituency is served by feeders with heavy losses, resulting in 16-hour load shedding in this area.
PESCO also stated that 16 hour load is being implemented in rural areas of KP with high losses. However, they said no shipment was carried out in the area without losses.
The incident came on top of the viral video of MPA Fazal Elahi and his friends lying on the bed inside the Rehman Baba substation after the power was forcibly restored to ten feeders.
