German Chancellor Scholz met Chinese President Xi
Beijing: German Chancellor Olaf Scholz met with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday, Beijing’s state media reported, on the final day of a three-day visit to Berlin’s biggest trading partner.
“On the morning of April 16, President Xi Jinping met with German Chancellor Scholz at the Diaoyutai State Hotel in Beijing,” state broadcaster CCTV reported.
Scholz’s whirlwind tour took him to the southwestern region of Chongqing, the economic powerhouse of Shanghai, and the capital, Beijing, where he sought to develop trade ties.
The Chancellor made his second visit to China on Sunday-Tuesday with a large group of ministers and business leaders.
A series of state aid trials for Chinese solar panels, electric cars and wind turbines are underway in Brussels.
Meanwhile, the United States is investigating the national security risks posed by Chinese technology in cars.
