ISLAMABAD: Minister of IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima said on that government is trying to realize opportunities offered by digital technology to create new jobs, enter new markets, drive innovation and develop new economic sectors.
In an interview with a private news channel, he said the government is now accelerating its goal of transforming the digital economy by empowering small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and technology startups.
He said that the digital future will only be the key to creating new opportunities to define society, enable growth and development, develop education and industry, and accelerate the economy.
“Digital technology has great potential for the political, economic and social empowerment of young women and men,” she said.
“Digitalization has become a priority for the economic sector,” he said, “and our main goal is to strengthen SMEs and technology startups, as well as strengthen cyber security.”
He said that we are working to build financial inclusion through partnerships with relevant institutions to make financial services more accessible to all sections of society.
Telecommunications, technology and financial services are sectors that need to embrace digital transformation, but the government is encouraging digital transformation in various industries to improve global competitiveness, he said.
Responding to questions, he urged social media users not to spread unverified news and videos for journalistic purposes, saying they should only be used for positive actions as responsible citizens.
