Govt taking vigorous measures for the welfare of journalists

Mardan : Secretary Information Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Syed Abdul Jabbar Shah has said that in the light of the instructions of the provincial government, the Information Department is taking vigorous measures for the welfare of journalists and is trying to solve the problems faced by the press clubs. He was talking to a two-member delegation comprising Mardan Press Club President M Bashir Adil and General Secretary Akhunzada Fazle Haq in his office. The Information Secretary said that the main objective of the Information Department is to highlight the positive initiatives of the government and keep the public informed about them. In this regard, journalists should play their full role in performing their journalistic duties properly. He said that the Department of Information is providing millions of rupees from the endowment fund for the treatment of journalists, while a huge amount of money is being spent annually for the construction and development of press clubs. Promotion of positive journalism is being strongly encouraged in the province. The Information Secretary said that in the current digital era, heavy responsibilities are imposed on journalists regarding authentic news and journalists have to fulfill their responsibilities effectively to prevent negative propaganda. Secretary Information Syed Abdul Jabbar Shah said that the journalist community has an important role in the development of the country. This is the reason why the government is paying full attention to solving the problems of regional journalists. He said that the journalist community should keep the people aware of the good and positive initiatives of the government so that people are aware of the initiatives of the government comprising of their public representatives. Information Secretary was briefed by the officials of Mardan Press Club regarding the ongoing development projects in the Press Club and informed about some problems and difficulties. Secretary Information listened carefully to the problems and difficulties faced by Press Club Mardan and assured their solution and said that journalists of Mardan have always played a positive role.
