BAHAWALPUR: A camp has been set up at Hatam-e-Nabuwat Chowk (Chowk Fawara) in Bahawalpur by Bahawalpur District Administration and Ashraf Sugar Factory and Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry on the orders of Punjab Government.
Bahawalpur Deputy Commissioner Zaheer Anwar Jappa distributed plastic bottles and money bags to residents to collect plastic bottles. In the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Zaher Anwar Jappa said that plastic is polluting our environment and plastic pollution is a problem of climate change. He also stressed the need to control plastic pollution, eliminate it completely, limit its use and immediately switch to plastic products. Punjab Government is making strong efforts and initiatives in this regard.
Bahawalpur Assistant Commissioner Dr. Sana Ramchand, Director General of Municipality Mian Azhar Javed, District Council Chairman Nasrullah Malik, Deputy Director of Local Government Hursheed Ahmed, CEO of Bahawalpur Waste Management Company Mohammad Naeem Akhtar, Assistant Ansari Environment Abbas Sial, President of Traders Association Hafiz Rao Muhammad Khurram, members of the Department of Social Welfare, Civil Defense, Department of Education, Civil Society, Merchants Association and District Peace Committee. According to the Ministry of Environment, more camps will be set up in the city to encourage all sections of society to play an effective role in preventing the use of plastic.
