LAHORE: Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) Vice Emir Pir Zaheerul Hasan Shah, who was hiding in Okara, has been arrested after being accused of inciting violence against Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa, sources told Geo News in Monday.
Shah’s arrest comes after a case was filed against him for a speech he made during a protest rally outside the Lahore Press Club during a demonstration against the SC verdict in the Mubarak Sani case.
A case was filed at the Qila Gujjar Sing Police Station in Lahore on behalf of Station House Officer (SHO) Hammad Hussain against the TLP leader and 1,500 party workers for issuing death threats to the Chief Justice.
The FIR contains provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) and provisions related to spreading religious hatred and anarchy, coercion and threats to the higher judiciary, interference in state affairs, obstruction of statutory duties and others.
It is to be noted that apart from TLP, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami (JUI-S), Mili Yakjehti Council Pakistan (MYC) and Wafaqul Madaris-ul-Arabiya (WMA) have also expressed their opposition to the apex court. the verdict in the said case.
The opposition comes despite a clarification issued by the Supreme Court on Friday, which said the court’s verdict clearly states that no one can be a Muslim without having faith in the finality of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) prophethood.
The government on Monday strongly condemned the life threat to Chief of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa by a certain group and announced the initiation of legal proceedings so that no one dares to challenge the state order.
“The law will take a crack at the elements behind the provocative and baseless propaganda campaign against the CJP,” Defense Minister Khawaja Asif told a press conference along with Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal.
He regretted that there was an attempt to spread bloodshed in the name of religion for its own political interests.
He said that belief in the finality of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace be upon him) is part of our faith. He stated that the Supreme Court has already clarified its position on the matter.
The minister pointed out that Qazi Faez Isa has been targeted for many years under various pretexts. He stated that there is a constant effort to silence a principled and forthright voice in the judiciary.
Emphasizing the need for rule of law, Khawaja Asif said that the dictates of any individual or group would not be accepted.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal on the occasion strongly condemned the recent statement by the group which threatened the life of Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and condemned it as an act of sedition against the country’s constitution and religion. values.”
He said the government would also take legal action to prevent similar incidents in future. We add that those behind this move belonged to the group founded in 2027-28.
“This time we are all united as Muslims and our belief in Khatm-e-Nabuwwat (Finality of Prophethood) is the foundation of our faith,” he noted.
He emphasized that no Muslim needs a certificate from any individual or group to get a certificate of his belief in Khatm-e-Nabuwwat. He said that only the courts have the right to punish or reward, no one else can order murder.
He said that if this right is given to the Ulema (Muslim scholars), then each religious school can give its own verdict. The Minister said that Pakistan Ulema also condemned the issue together. The minister also emphasized the need for unity and refraining from creating anarchy in the society.
