ISLAMABAD: Chairman Prime Minister’s Youth Program (PMYP) on Thursday said that Green Youth Movement (GYM) is an initiative of Prime Minister’s Youth Program to create awareness about the effects of climate change.
Solution “Management of change; Dynamic Role of Pakistani Youth and Civil Society in Climate Resilience”, ceremony at Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Studies, said that out of 268 universities in Pakistan, PMYP has established GYM clubs in 137 public sector universities in Pakistan which would expand. to all universities, colleges and schools to sensitize the youth.
In his keynote address, Rana Mashhood highlighted the key role young people play in addressing the global challenge of climate change.
He said that the time has come for Pakistan to fight the challenge of climate change in collaboration with the active participation of the youth.
The PMYP chairman added that the government is educating the youth to create awareness in their localities and advocate for it.
Rana said Pakistan produces less than 1 percent of the world’s carbon footprint and suffers the greatest effects of climate change. He urged the world’s climate change organizations “We don’t need any help, but we need you to get your house in order”.
PMYP Chairman informed that Commonwealth Secretary General RT Patricia Scotland will announce initiatives in this regard in a scheduled meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Mashhood said PMYP has undertaken various initiatives in education, technical education, arts and culture, sports, science, mathematics, innovation awards, Prime Minister’s Youth Loan Scheme and others to support the youth.
He encouraged the youth to visit the PMYP portal for information, as supporting young people and ensuring their inclusion in the policy-making process to combat climate change is not only a matter of importance; it is an absolute must.
The innovative ideas and unique perspectives that young people bring to the table are essential ingredients in developing effective and inclusive climate policies.
Involving young people ensures that these policies are forward-looking and comprehensive, taking into account the long-term impacts and diverse needs of all communities. “By harnessing the creativity, energy and determination of youth, we can drive meaningful change and create a legacy of sustainability for future generations,” he added.
