Speaking to PTV news channel, Associate Professor of Public Health Ahmad Abdullah said it is important to take precautions to avoid heatwave-related illnesses.
To combat heat stress, health authorities are advising people to stay alert and increase water intake.
“The number of heat-related medical cases has increased recently,” he said, adding that people should stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, especially during the hottest months of the year, to prevent heat-related illnesses. hot
“Drink even if you don’t feel thirsty,” he said. “People should avoid vigorous activity during the hottest time.”
Dr Ahmad said it is important for everyone to be aware and recognize the early signs of heat-related illness.
In response to a question, he said that people who work outside are more susceptible to heat-related health problems, and even children and the elderly with chronic medical problems are prone to heat-related health problems.
To another question, he said that all deputy commissioners have been directed to set up heat stroke centers in public places to provide emergency medical treatment.
Health experts say there is a need to create public awareness about heat stroke prevention. People should avoid direct exposure to sunlight, especially between 12 noon and 4 pm, cover their heads and increase their water intake.
