ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday said a high-powered delegation from China will soon visit Pakistan after an “excellent” visit to Beijing as the South Asian country seeks economic support from its sister country.
“A strong Chinese delegation will soon visit Pakistan,” Prime Minister Shehbaz said while briefing members of the federal cabinet about his five-day visit to China.
Highlighting his visit, the Prime Minister said that the Chinese side has raised its concerns several times. However, he assured that the government prioritizes security at every step, regardless of whether it is discussed in government or government-to-business or other high-level forums.
Calling the visit a “privilege”, the Prime Minister appreciated the efforts of the ministers and the successful visit to neighboring countries.
The Prime Minister, who arrived in China last week on June 5, held several delegation-level talks with Beijing and met with Chinese leaders, including President Xi Jinping, during his visit.
The two parties agreed to continue working together in various areas including peace, stability and development in the region, according to a joint statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
During the visit, Pakistan confirmed that it has decided to take all necessary measures to improve the security situation and ensure the safety and security of Chinese citizens and projects in the country.
Condemning the Dasu attack that killed five Chinese citizens, both sides expressed their willingness to fight terrorism and fight the threat of terrorism together with the international community.
