DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday announced the shortlist for the ICC Player of the Month award for the month of June.
Jasprit Bumrah and Rohit Sharma, the two T20 World Cup-winning stars of the United States and the West Indies, are part of the ICC Men’s Player of the Month list along with Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz.
“Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been named the ICC Player of the Tournament following his fast bowling display throughout the month of June,” said an ICC press release.
His compatriot Rohit Sharma led India to their first ICC silverware in 13 years and topped the list.
England batsman Maia Bouchier is on the ICC Player of the Month shortlist, hoping to win the award as England’s second female player.
Sri Lanka’s Vishmi Gunaratne, who rose to fame in the ODI series against the West Indies, also made the list after winning the player of the series award.
The latest contender is India’s Smriti Mandhana, who is looking to win the ICC Women’s Player of the Month honor with her outstanding performance against South Africa.
