Islamabad: The District and Majlis Court on Tuesday reserved its verdict on the plea of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi to stay the sentence in the iddat case.
Earlier this month, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) ordered a district court to stay the sentence of former prime minister Khan and his wife Bushra for 10 days.
The court also gave one month to rule on the couple’s motion against the termination.
The IHC order came after the couple filed several petitions against the former chief minister to declare the judgment of the district and trial court and asked the high court to hear the appeal in the case.
Meanwhile, Bushra sought a ruling on a plea to the court to suspend the session.
The decision, which is reserved now, will be announced on June 27 (Thursday) at 3 pm.
The hearing on the couple’s request to reverse the court order was adjourned until July 2.
It should be noted that in January, Bushra’s ex-husband Khawar Maneka contested the couple’s marriage, calling it a sham and that the marriage took place during the iddat period (when women return to seclusion after divorce). or death of husband).
In February, a jury sentenced the pair to seven years in prison and fined each $500,000.
Khan and Bushra later filed several appeals against the suspended and sought suspension of their sentences.
Justice Shahrukh Arjumand reserved the judgment on May 23 in an appeal challenging the suspension.
However, repeating Maneka’s no-confidence motion, the IHC transferred the case to the Additional District court with Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majuka on Judge Arujmand’s appeal.
