Islamabad: Khawar Maneka has challenged the acquittal of PTI founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the Iddat marriage case in the Islamabad High Court.
Khawar Maneka, through lawyer Zahid Asif Chaudhry, filed an appeal in the Islamabad High Court, saying the appellate court had ignored important aspects of the case and quashed the convictions of PTI founder and Bushra Bibi.
The petitioner stated that the appellate court did not deal with the testimony of the prosecution witnesses, and the appellate court’s acquittal of both defendants cannot be legally confirmed.
The petitioner sought that the decision of the Additional Sessions Judge of July 13, which accepted the appeal against the convictions, be set aside and that the trial court’s decision in the Iddat marriage case of February 3 be reinstated, upholding the sentences of the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi.
Notably, the government, PTI founder and Bushra Bibi have become parties to the petition.
