KARACHI: Multan Sultan all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed has been fined five percent of his match fee for using inappropriate language during the match against Quetta Gladiators at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on Tuesday.
According to the PCB, Iftikhar was guilty of breaching the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Level 1 code of conduct.
Iftikhar has breached Article 2.5 of the PSL Code of Conduct which reads: “Using language, actions or gestures that disparage or are likely to provoke an aggressive response from the batsman in his/her dismissal during the match”.
The incident took place in the third innings of Quetta Gladiators when Iftikhar was seen using inappropriate language towards the batsman who was dismissed.
“As Iftikhar pleaded guilty to the charges and accepted the sanctions proposed by match referee Ali Naqvi, there was no need for a formal hearing,” the PCB said in a press release. “The charges were made by on-field umpires Rashid Riaz and Richard Illingworth.
Earlier, Lahore Qalandars’ Sikandar Raza was fined on Monday for showing disagreement with the umpire’s decision.

The Zimbabwe all-rounder has been fined 10 per cent of his match fee for breaching the PSL Level 1 Code of Conduct.
The incident took place on Sunday evening during the Lahore Qalandars vs Quetta Gladiators match at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.
Meanwhile, pacer Naseem Shah of Islamabad United has been fined 10 percent of his match fee by the PCB.
The fine was imposed for breaching the PSL Tier 1 Code of Conduct for Players and Support Staff during Sunday’s match between Multan Sultans and Islamabad United at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.
Naseem kicked the stumps after the end of the Multan Sultans innings.
