Rawalpindi: IG Punjab visited the Safe City Project in Rawalpindi and Police khidmat Center Liaqat Bagh.
IG Punjab assessed the ongoing construction work in Safe City and reviewed the facilities at Liaqat Bagh Khidmat Center, also took feedback from the citizens:
Inspector General Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar is actively engaged in the field visits during the first decade of Muharram and is personally reviewing the security arrangements in different regions and districts. In this regard, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar visited Rawalpindi and inspected the security arrangements of the main processions and majalis of Muharram. Additional IG CTD Waseem Sial, Regional Police Officer Rawalpindi Region Babar Sarfraz Alpa, CPO Rawalpindi Syed Khalid Hamdani, SSP Operations Flight Lt (Rtd) Hafiz Kamran Asghar were also accompanied by senior officers.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar inspected security arrangements for central processions and majalis of Ashura. RPO Rawalpindi Babar Sarfraz Alpa briefed IG Punjab about security arrangements. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that on the directives of the Chief Minister Punjab, thorough security assessments are being conducted throughout Punjab during Muharram ul Haram. He mentioned that punjab police have close coordination with organizers of procession & majalis , peace committees, district administrations, and security departments for foolproof and comprehensive security arrangements. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that police teams are engaged round the clock with the cooperation of stakeholders, scholars, organizers, and citizens to maintain a peaceful environment. RPO Rawalpindi Babar Sarfraz Alpa, briefing IG Punjab, highlighted that complete screening and sweeping of routes and venues are underway before sensitive processions, All measures are being completed ahead of time for foolproof security of Majlis and processions. Monitoring process of all the processions is going on uninterruptedly with the help of CCTV cameras. RPO Rawalpindi further said that implementation of the code of conduct and security SOPs issued regarding Muharram is being ensured. CPO Rawalpindi said that legal action will be taken against those who spread religious and communal hatred on social media.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar also visited Safe City Project and Police Khidmat Center Liaqat Bagh during Rawalpindi tour. IG Punjab while reviewing the facilities provided in the service center also took feedback from the citizens. IG Punjab reviewed the ongoing construction works of Safe City Project and gave instructions, Cabinet Committee on Law and Order also visited Safe City Center Rawalpindi, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar told the cabinet committee members while visiting various departments of Safe City Center that safe city cameras are providing full support for the surveillance of Muharram. IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar said that 1600 cameras have been installed in Safe City Rawalpindi. According to the instructions of Chief Minister Punjab, Safe City Centers will be established in 18 more districts by the end of this year. Chairman and Provincial Minister Khawaja Salman Rafiq, Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman, Bilal Akbar Khan, Special Assistant Zeeshan Malik, Interior Secretary Noor Ul Amin Mengal and Commissioner Rawalpindi Engineer Aamir Khattak were included in the delegation.
