Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court on Friday barred PEMRA (Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority) from taking any action against the TV channel for broadcasting the case.
IHC Chief Justice Amer Farooq presided over the hearing on the plea filed by the Supreme Court Press Association (PAS) and the Islamabad High Court Journalists Association (IHCJA) to keep the PEMRA notice restricting the broadcast of the hearing.
The petitioners were represented by Advocate Omar Ijaz Gillani and President Islamabad High Court Bar Association Ali Azad.
The court adjourned the hearing till May 28 while issuing notices to PEMRA and the information secretary.
On Thursday, MMB and IHCJA filed a joint petition against the PEMRA notification in the Islamabad High Court.
