According to Hindustan Times, a man bitten by a snake in India pulled the reptile back twice and was eventually killed.
This incident took place in Bihar, India, where a snake bit a railway worker, Santosh Lohar, who then bit the snake, thinking it would reverse the effects of the venom.
Santhilan died after being bitten when he was rushed to the hospital by Santosh and survived after proper medical treatment. He was released the next day.
Santosh, 35, was part of a railway track laying team in the Rajauli forest area when he was bitten by a snake while he was sleeping.
Without thinking, the railway worker caught the snake and bit it twice, believing the local legend that biting the reptile’s back will save the bitten person.
According to Hindustan Times, around 50,000 people are killed by rattlesnakes in India every year. These four snakes account for about 90% of the outbreaks – the common krait, the Indian cobra, the Russell wave and the giant snake.
