LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, presiding over a special meeting on raising the price of chicken, said that the price of chicken should not be beyond the reach of the common man, rather it should be kept under control.
The CM said that inflation is not acceptable in any case, it should be monitored in the field by all relevant institutions. She expressed great concern over the artificial price hike of chickens and was enraged by the constant increase in the prices of chicken and poultry products in the province. She ordered the creation of a regulatory mechanism
determine the price of the chicken.
CM Maryam Nawaz questioned that chicken was among the most consumed food where the institutions were responsible. She said that chicken is widely used by people
throughout the province it was not acceptable to increase its rate. She added that do poultry business and make legitimate profit but don’t burden people by raising prices.
The CM said, “Our people are aware that they cannot allow mafias to raise prices.
We don’t want anyone to suffer, but should we leave people to the mobs?”
The meeting was attended by Provincial Chief Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Information and Culture Minister Azma Zahid Bukhari, Provincial Ministers Bilal Yasin, Ashiq Hussain and MPA Salma Butt.
Principal Secretary to CM Sajid Zafar Dal, Secretary & DG Industries and other concerned officers were also present.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has emphasized the importance of increasing reliance on technology to strengthen monitoring of government public services.
She also discussed the process of incorporating public opinion in a meeting with Brig (Retd) Babar Alauddin, Chief Minister’s Chairman Directorate of Evaluation, Feedback, Inspection and Monitoring to discuss suggestions and recommendations for good governance and transparency at the management level here on Monday. into government decisions and policy making.
The CM directed Babar Alauddin to design a modern training mechanism for the administration and the police. She said the introduction of the performance index has increased the sense of accountability among officers. The performance index should be strictly monitored, she added.
The CM congratulated Brig (R) Babar Alauddin on taking charge of his office.
Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Provincial Chief Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb and other relevant officers were also present on the occasion.
